Cecilia Violetta López & Joshua Dennis Highlight Opera Idaho’s 2021-22 Season

Opera Idaho has announced its 2021-22 season featuring four productions from classic and contemporary works. Here is a look:

Lehár’s “The Merry Widow” opens the season in a production starring Cecilia Violetta López as Hanna.

Performance Dates: Oct. 8 & 9, 2021

Bizet’s “Carmen” returns to Opera Idaho starring Joshua Dennis as Don José.

Performance Dates: Jan. 28 & 30, 2022

Jak Perla’s “An American Dream” is a contemporary opera inspired by true stories from American History during World War II and is set to be conducted by Jen Drake and directed by Gordon Reinhart.

Performance Dates: March 11 & 13, 2022

The season concludes with Jake Heggie’sDead Man Walking. The production will star mezzo-soprano Elise Quagliata as Sister Helen Prejean and baritone Tim Mix as Joseph de Rocher. Sara Jobin conducts the modern masterpiece.

Performance Dates: April 22 & 24, 2022

Add On Production 

The company will present “All is Calm: the Christmas Truce of 1914” by Peter Rothstein.

Performance Dates: Dec. 4-19, 2021
