Cecilia Bartoli’s Barcelona Concert Canceled

Palau de la Música Catalana has announced that mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli’s concert slated for Oct. 17, 2020 has been canceled.

In a statement, the institution said, “Due to the general context of the COVID-19 health crisis, we are forced to definitively cancel the postponed concert that Cecilia Bartoli was supposed to give at the Palau de la Música Catalana. The Palau de la Música Catalana deeply appreciates all the efforts that were made by Cecilia Bartoli to perform the concert, but unfortunately, it has not been possible.”

The concert was originally scheduled for April 3, 2020, but was rescheduled for October due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

Spain has faced a strong rise in the new daily COVID-19 cases in the last two months, reaching a high of 14,389 new cases per day on Sept. 18, 2020. The country currently has 778,607 active COVID-19 cases.
