Cecilia Bartoli Announces New Album For Holiday Season

Twenty years ago, mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli released “The Vivaldi Album,” which redefined her as an artist in the eyes of many around the opera world.

Now she has returned to that original well of inspiration with her latest album, “Antonio Vivaldi.”

This new album will feature the mezzo in collaboration with the French baroque orchestra Ensemble Matheus under Jean-Christophe Spinosi. Bartoli will perform 10 arias from such operas as “Argippo,” “Orlando Furioso,” “Il Giustino,” “Ottone,” “La Verità in Cimento,” “Tito Manlio,” “Catone in Utica,” and “Andromeda Liberata.”

The album also marks the 30th anniversary of Bartoli’s collaboration with Decca.

Bartoli has a busy 2018-19 with performances of “Semele” upcoming at the Opernhaus Zürich. She is also set to appear in “Ariodante” with the Opéra de Monte-Carlo Salle Garnier and “Alcina” with the Salzburger Pfingstfestspiele Haus für Mozart. Finally, she will also appear in “Giulio Cesare” at La Scala.
