CD / DVD Releases – Week of Oct. 29

Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, Veronique Gens & Rebeka Lokar Have New Releases

Three major CDs and DVDs will get releases this week. There is one re-release while the two DVD releases will showcase new productions that were acclaimed when the opened.

Here is a look at what you need to get this week!

Le Nozze di Figaro

From the Berlin State Opera, Accentus Music will release a production of Mozart’s classic gem with a cast that includes Ildebrando d’Arcangelo, Marianne Crebassa, Anna Prohaska, and Dorothea Roschmann. The production by Jürgen Flimm was conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.

Turandot

From the Teatro Regio di Torino, C Major will release Puccini’s final opera with Rebeka Lokar in the title role and Jorge de Leon as Calaf. Erika Grimaldi rounds out the cast as Liu and Gianandrea Noseda conducts the production by Stefano Posada.

Tragédiennes

Erato is re-releasing Veronique Gens’s three albums that showcased her work in arias from Lully, Berlioz, Cherubini, Gluck, Rameau, Verdi, Piccinni, Meyerbeer and Saint-Saens. The albums were released by in 2005, 2008, and 2011, and emphasized the French tragic operas of the late 17th, 18th and 19th.
