CD / DVD Releases – Week of March 19: Mozart, Rimsky-Korsakov & Burgmen Headline New Releases

This week, two acclaimed productions come to DVD from Europe, while a world premiere recording of a rarely performed work comes to the fore.

Here is a look.

Così Fan Tutte

Corrine Winters, Daniel Behle, Alessio Arduini, Sabina Puertolas, Angela Brower, and Johannes Martin Kranzleheadline headline a new production of Mozart’s final Da Ponte opera directed by Jan Philipp Gloger. Semyon Bychov conducts the production, which will be released by Opus Arte on Blu Ray and DVD.

The Golden Cockerel

Alain Altinoglu conducts a performance of Rimsky Korsakov’s “The Golden Cockerel” from La Monnaie de Mont. The performance, which was recorded in December 2016, stars Alexey Dolgov and Venera Gimadieva. Laurent Pelly directed the acclaimed production, which will be released by Bel Ari Classiques.

The Stolen Bucket

Burgmen’s opera “La Secchia Rapita” will get a world premiere recording released by Dynamic. Aldo Salvagno conducts the recording, leading the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano. The recording stars Elchin Huseynov, Giorgio Valerio, Hyuksoo Kim, and Alessandro Ravasio.
