CD / DVD Releases – Week of April 16: Magdalena Kožená & Max Emanuel Cencic Headline New Releases

This week, two rarely-performed works will get DVD and CD releases while one major artist releases a crossover album. There will also be a major archival release that should be popular among opera lovers.

Il Borgomastro di Saardam

Dynamic releases a rarely-performed Donizetti work from the Fondzaione Donizetti. Roberto Rizzi Brignoli conducts the work with Juan Francisco Gatell, Andrea Concetti, and Giorgi Caoduro. The performance will be released on DVD and on CD.

Der Fliegende Hollander

Urania Arts releases an archival recording of Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” with Theo Adam, Anja Silja, and James King. Otto Klemperer conducts the historical document.

Arminio

European audiences will get a chance to hear Handel’s rarely performed work “Arminio” with Max Emanuel Cencic, Gaia Petrone, Lauren Snouffer, Juan Sancho, and Pavel Kudinov. From the Badische Staatstheater, C Major will release the DVD.

Cole Porter 

Magdalena Kožená dedicates a new album to Cole Porter singing such classics as “Night and Day” and “Love For Sale,” among others. Brnofon releases the new crossover album.
