This week we highlight two opera recordings that will be released around the world. The first comes from a beloved gem and the other is an important sacred work. Here is a look at this week’s new releases.
Janacek – Das Schlaue Fuchslein
From Oper Frankfurt, Oehms classics releases the fairy opera that incorporates Moravian folk tunes as it recounts the life of a clever fox and accompanying wildlife. The work is conducted by Johannes Debus and stars Louise Alder in the lead role as well as Jenny Carlstedt, Sebastian Geyer, and Simon Neal.
Rossini – Petite Messe Solemne
Pentatone releases a recording of Rossini’s towering mass featuring Eleonora Buratto, Luca Pisaroni, Kenneth Tarver, and Sarah Mingrado. Gustavo Gimeno conducts the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra. The recording also features the Wiener Singakademie lead by Tobia Berndt.
