Catriona Morrison Replaces Sarah Connolly In Scotland

By Francisco Salazar

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra has announced changes to the Saint-Saëns Symphony No3 Organ concerts next month.

The orchestra announced that Catriona Morison will replace Dame Sarah Connolly as guest soloist in the first half of the concert.

The organization stated that “Due to ongoing treatment for breast cancer, Dame Sarah regrets that she must withdraw from these concerts.”

RSNO Director of Concerts and Engagement, Bill Chandler, said: “The entire RSNO organization fully supports Dame Sarah at this challenging time, we completely understand why this decision had to be taken, and we wish her all the best. We are fortunate to have the excellent Catriona Morison joining us as our guest soloist for these concerts to sing well-loved arias from Carmen as part of this new program line-up.”

The concert is scheduled for Nov. 1 at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, and on Nov. 2 at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall  and will feature Délibes Excerpts from “Sylvia, ou La nymphe de Diane,” Bizet Arias from “Carmen,” and Saint-Saëns Symphony No. 3, “Organ.”
