The Cathedral of St. John the Divine will offer up an online showcase for its New Year’s Eve “Concert for Peace” on Thursday, Dec. 31.

The performance, which will maintain a tradition that dates almost 40 years when it was founded by Leonard Bernstein, will feature performances by soprano Jamet Pittman, cellist Arthur Fiacco, and organist David Briggs. The Cathedral Choir, led by Kent Tritle, the Director of Cathedral Music, will also perform.

The concert will feature such hits music by Bernstein as “My House,” “Take Care of This House” as well as J.S. Bach’s “In Dir ist Freude” and “This Little Light of Mine.”

The 40-minute program will be presided over by Right Reverend Clifton Daniel III, Dean of the Cathedral. Also involved will be broadcast journalist Harry Smith.
