Cathedral Choral Society to Present ‘Brahms of Love & Spirit’

By David Salazar

Cathedral Choral Society will conclude its 2025-26 season with “Brahms of Love & Spirit” on Sunday, May 17  at Washington National Cathedral.

The program pairs Brahms’ “Liebeslieder Waltzes,” Op. 52 with Abels’ “Ode to Harmony,” Copland’s “Promise of Living” from “Tenderland,” two movements from Bonds’ “Credo,” and Fleming’s “Three About Jesus.”

Music Director Steven Fox leads the Cathedral Choral Society and Orchestra.

“This program is two concerts in one, both past and present, each dedicated to connection across voices, traditions, and time,” Fox said, per an official press release. “‘Of Spirit’ brings exceptional American voices to light in a season of national celebration — a prelude to our commissioning of new American oratorios in the coming season.”

A livestream option is available on a pay-what-you-wish basis. The showcase kicks off at at 6 p.m. local time.
