Cataluña & Gran Canaria Announce Plans to Fund Cultural Institutions

The governments of Cataluña and the Gran Canaria have announced plans to give money to cultural institutes.

The Cataluña plan will give a 10 million Euros line of credit to the Institut Català de Finances and an 8 million Euros line of credit to the affected cultural institutions. The line of credit known as “Impacto COVID” will help pay off expenses caused by the closure of cultural institutions due to the outbreak. There will also be a line of credit of 3 million Euros for non-profit organizations and an additional 2 million Euros for canceled contracts caused by the crisis.

Meanwhile, the Gran Canaria has announced a plan to fund cultural institutions allocating 3 million Euros. The government noted that it will also establish grants for visual arts and fine arts.

The opera house also announced that it is looking for new dates for postponed productions of “La Traviata” and “La Bohème.”
