Portland Opera and Oregon Ballet Theatre have announced a return to live performances this June with events hosted by OMSI at the Jordan Schnitzer CARE Summerstage.

Portland Opera is set to take the stage on June 22-27 with a 90-minute version of Robert Xavier Rodríguez’s “Frida;” the showcase will also include a performance by Ballet Folklórico.

Catalina Cuervo will star in the title role alongside Bernardo Bermudez as Diego Rivera. Other performers include Aline Bahamondez, Rachel Hauge, Joseph Michael Muir, and Adrian Rosales-Casillas. Andrés Cladera conducts a production that will be directed by Andreas Mitisek.

“All of us at Portland Opera are so glad to be able to bring live opera to the stage this summer,” Sue Dixon, general director of Portland Opera, said in a press release. “We are delighted for the incredible opportunity to partner with our neighbors at OMSI and collaborate with our friends at Oregon Ballet Theatre to welcome audiences again!”
