Cast Change: Sondra Radvanovsky to Sing Teatro Real’s ‘Manon Lescaut’ Two Nights in a Row

By David Salazar

Soprano Sondra Radvanovsky will sing the title role in Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” at the Teatro Real in Madrid on Saturday, Oct. 3, replacing Saioa Hernández, who is unwell.

Radvanovsky shared the news in an Instagram update, stating, “I am singing Manon Lescaut tonight again @teatroreal filling in for a sick @hernandezsaioa . Wishing her a quick recovery and a huge toi, toi, toi to the whole cast! Sooo exciting and a first for me…singing the same role two nights in a row. Big hugs and andiamo!”

Radvanovsky also performed the role on Oct. 2, 2026, meaning that she will be doing a back-to-back of the role.

Radvanovsky and Hernández have been alternating the role since the production opened on Sept. 23, with the American-Canadian soprano taking on the title role. Radvanovsky has also featured in the Sept. 26, 29 and Oct. 2 shows and is set for additional performances on Oct. 5, 8, and 11.

Hernández has performed in three previous performances and is scheduled to return to the production on Oct. 6 and 9, 2026.
