Cast Change: Sarah Dufresne & Andriana Chuchman Join Cast of ‘Rigoletto’ at the Canadian Opera Company

The Canadian Opera Company has announced a cast change for its production of “Rigoletto.”

The company said, “Soprano Andrea Carroll has withdrawn from the COC’s upcoming production of Rigoletto. The COC welcomes sopranos Sarah Dufresne and Andriana Chuchman to share the role of Gilda for the duration of the performance run.”

Dufresne will perform on Jan. 24, 28, and Feb. 6, and 8 while Chuchman will perform Feb. 10, 12, and 14.

Dufresne has performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, London Symphony Orchestra, Tiroler Festspiele, Opéra de Montréal, Pacific Opera Victoria, and Bayerische Staatsoper.

Meanwhile, Chuchman has starred in productions at The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, Glimmerglass Festival, Opera Omaha, Glyndebourne Festival Tour, Salzburg Whitsun Festival and the Hamburg State Opera.

Both sopranos will join a cast that includes baritone Quinn Kelsey in the title role and Ben Bliss as the Duke. The cast will be rounded out by mezzo-soprano Zoie Reams as Maddalena and Peixin Chen as Sparafucile. COC Music Director Johannes Debus will conduct the production by Christopher Alden.
