The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced a cast change for its July 20, 2026 performance of “Il Trovatore.”

The company said that Saioa Hernández will sing the role of Leonora replacing Marina Rebeka, who is ill.

Hernández took to social media and said, “Who would have thought yesterday, after finishing the performance I thought would be my last as Leonora at the Teatro Real, that today I’d be announcing one more! Due to Marina Rebeka’s indisposition, I will be returning to the stage tomorrow to perform as Leonora in the final performance of ‘Il Trovatore.’ This unexpected change will mean delaying my trip to Varna by a few hours, where on July 22nd I will once again don the crown of the Ice Princess, ‘Turandot.’ But I couldn’t imagine a better farewell to this production than having the opportunity to share one last performance with my colleagues and with all of you. From here, I want to wish Marina a speedy and full recovery. I hope to see you tomorrow at the Teatro Real to experience this final Trovatore together!”

Hernández is set to include Ksenia Dudnikova, Artur Ruciński, Celso Albelo, and Krzysztof Bączyk. Nicola Luisotti conducts the production by Francisco Negrín.
