Cast Change: Palau de les Arts Finds New ‘Luisa Miller’

The Palau de les Arts has announced a cast change for “Lusia Miller.”

The company said that Mariangela Sicilia will sing the title role replacing Federica Lombardi, who is pregnant and has announced she was canceling her role debut in Vienna and Valencia.

Sicilia is a rising star in the opera world having performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, Teatro Real de Madrid, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Salzburg Festival, Sydney Opera House, Dutch National Opera, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and Arena di Verona, among others.

The Italian soprano is set to join a cast that includes Germán Alcántara, Alex Esposito, Freddie De Tommaso, Maria Barakova, and Gianluca Buratto. Sir Mark Elder conducts the production by Valentina Carrasco.

“Luisa Miller” will open on Dec. 10 and runs through 22, 205.
