The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its 2026-27 season.

The company revealed that Vida Mikneviciute will be singing the role of Minnie in “La Fanciulla del West” which opens on New Year’s Eve. Mikneviciute’s upcoming slate includes performances of “Die Frau ohne Schatten” at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in July. She recently appeared in concert performances of Act one of “Die Walküre” in Madrid.

“La Fanciulla del West” opens on Dec. 31 and runs through Jan. 30, 2027. It also stars SeokJong Baek and Christopher Maltman. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts.
