The Bibao Opera has announced a cast change for “Werther.”

The company said that Spanish soprano Lucía Iglesias will step into the role of Sophie.

Iglesias will make her role debut as well as her house debut.

The soprano made her professional debut in 2019 and has since performed at the Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto, Palacio de la Ópera, and Teatro Colón in A Coruña.

She is set to join a cast that includes Stephen Costello, Annalisa Stroppa, Àngel Odena, and Enric Martínez-Castignani.

The production, by Rosetta Cucchi, will feature Carlo Montanaro leading the orchestra.
