The Boston Lyric Opera has announced a cast change for its Opera Gala on Nov. 12, 2025.
The company said that American dramatic soprano Lise Lindström will step into a starring role in Boston Lyric Opera’s Opera Gala 2025 performance, “The Ride of the Valkyries,” replacing Christine Goerke, who withdrew due to personal circumstances.
The evening will combine Wagner’s iconic music with American Songbook classics, humor, and voiceover narration by Emmy and Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce. Written and directed by James Blaszko and conducted by BLO Music Director David Angus, “Ride of the Valkyries!” will also feature Morris Robinson alongside seven current and former BLO Emerging Artists, including Chelsea Basler, Josie Larsen, Mary Kray, Michelle Trainor, Omar Najmi, Junhan Choi, and Zizhao Wang.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. with cocktails and a Ring Cycle-inspired immersive space, followed by dinner and fundraising. The 8 p.m. performance launches the bold, festive revue celebrating opera, community, and BLO’s mission to make the art form more open and accessible.
