Les Chorégies d’Orange has announced a cast change for the July 4 performances of its production of “La Traviata.”
The company said that Claudia Pavone will sing the role of Violetta, replacing Jessica Pratt.
Pratt said, “Unfortunately, on my doctor’s advice, I have had to withdraw from tonight’s performance of ‘La Traviata.’ After spending several days rehearsing in the extremely windy conditions in Orange, I developed tracheitis. I have been prescribed medication and instructed to rest for the next few days to allow for a full recovery. I am deeply disappointed not to be performing this evening and sincerely apologize to everyone who was planning to attend. I wish my wonderful colleagues and the entire company a fantastic performance tonight, and I look forward to being back on stage as soon as possible.”
Pavone has performed the role at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Verdi di Trieste and at Teatro San Carlo.
She is set to join a cast that includes Julien Behr and Ludovic Tézier.
