Cast Change: Jessica Pratt Steps into Teatro San Carlo’s ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro San Carlo has announced a cast change for its production of “Lucia di Lammermoor” on March 21.

The company said that Jessica Pratt will sing the title role stepping in for Rosa Feola, who is ill.

Feola also took to social media and said, “Writing this message breaks my heart, but unfortunately my illness persist and I will not be able to be on stage tomorrow, March 21st. Health requires a forced pause: we are humans and we must respect our body’s limits. I hope with all my heart for your understanding. A Special thank you and a big ‘in bocca lupo’ to the dear Jessica Pratt, who will be stepping in for me for this performance.”

The news comes after Feola fell ill during the March 18 performance that forced the theater to eliminate the mad scene from the third act and the performance continued with Alexander Köpecki as Raimondo, Mattia Olivieri as Enrico, and René Barbera as Edgardo.

Francesco Lanzillotta conducts the production by Gianni Amelio.

The final performance of “Lucia di Lammermoor” will be held on March 24.
