Cast Change In Semperoper Dresden’s “Die Tote Stadt.”

The Semperoper Dresden has announced a cast change for Korngold’s “Die Tote Stadt.”

The company announced that Aleš Briscein will sing Paul in the performances of May 31  and June 4, replacing Burkhard Fritz, who is ill. The performances will mark the final ones of the run.

Briscein is an acclaimed Czech tenor who has performed with the Prague State Opera, Opera National de Paris, Komische Oper Berlin, Accademia Nationale di Santa Cecilia, Oper Graz,  Bayerische Staatsoper, and Savonlinna Festival. He has also performed in Vancouver, Tokyo, Zypern, Lille, Caen, Antwerp, Valencia, Vienna, London, and Frankfurt.

His repertoire includes the music of Janacek, Tchaikovsky, Donizetti, Wagner, Gounod, Verdi, Zemlinsky, and Smetana.

Briscein will join Manuela Uhl, Sebastian Wartig, and Michal Doron with Dmitri Jurowski conducting the production by David Bösch.
