Cast Change: George Curnow Replaces Anthony León in Glyndebourne’s ‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’
By Francisco SalazarThe Glyndebourne Festival has announced a cast change for its August 11 performance of “Die Entführung aus dem Serail.”
The company said that George Curnow will sing the role of Belmonte replacing Anthony León, who is ill with a virus.
Curnow is a Welsh tenor who was a Jerwood Young Artist and has performed with the Glyndebourne Festival. He has also performed at the Buxton International Festival and the Royal Academy Opera. He won second prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Competition 2023 and first prize in the Dunraven Young Welsh Singer of the Year Competition 2023.
He is set to join a cast that includes Michael Mofidian, Thomas Cilluffo, Franck Saurel, Liv Redpath, and Julie Roset.
