The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its Dec. 14 performance of “La Bohème.”

The company said that Gabriella Reyes will sing the role of Mimì stepping in for Galina Cheplakova, who is ill.

Reyes took to social media and said, “House debut today at Bayerische Staatsoper! I’m stepping in to sing Mimì in ‘La Bohème,’ and I couldn’t be more excited to be joining this wonderful cast. Jump-ins are always a whirlwind, but I’m grateful for the trust and ready to get out there and do my best. Sending warm wishes to Galina Cheplakova for a smooth and speedy recovery, and heartfelt thanks to Opera North for releasing me to make this possible.”

Reyes is set to join a cast that includes Juliana Grigoryan, Benjamin Bernheim, Andrzej Filończyk, German Olvera, and Roberto Tagliavini. Nicola Luisotti conducts the production by Otto Schenk.

Cheplakova returns to the production on Dec. 17 and Sonya Yoncheva will join the cast on Dec. 20, 2025.
