The Greek National Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “La Gioconda.”

The company said, “We announce that the role of Enzo Grimaldo will be performed by the tenor Francesco Pio Galasso in all performances of ‘La Gioconda.’ The tenor Arsen Soghomonyan will not participate in the production.”

Galasso has performed at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Bolshoi in Moscow, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Fondazione Arena di Verona, Hungarian State Opera, Teatro Verdi di Salerno, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, and Teatro Euskalduna in Bilbao.

He is set to join a cast that includes Anna Pirozzi, Alisa Kolosova, Tassos Apostolou, Anita Rachvelishvili, and Dimitri Platanias. Fabrizio Ventura conducts the Oliver Mears production, which opens on Oct. 19 and runs through Nov. 7, 2025.
