The Teatro dell’Opera has announced a cast change for its July 22 performance of “Aida.”

The company said, “We regretfully announce that Aleksandra Kurzak will be unable to perform the role of Aida in tomorrow evening’s performance at the Circo Massimo due to illness. We extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery, and our sincere thanks to Yolanda Auyanet for her generous acceptance of the invitation to perform the role of Aida in the performance on July 22nd.”

Auyanet performed the role on July 15 and 18 and is well known for her interpretations in the Italian repertoire.

She is set to join a cast that includes Angela Meade (Amneris), Luciano Ganci (Radamés), Ludovic Tézier (Amonasro), and Alex Esposito (Ramfis). Daniele Callegari conducts the production by Davide Livermore.
