The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “Madama Butterfly.”

The company said that Ailyn Pérez and Toni Marie Palmertree will replace Elena Stikhina in March performances, singing the role of Cio-Cio-San. Pérez will sing the role on March 11, 14, 19, and 23, while Palmertree will sing the final performance on March 28.

Pérez was already set to open the production on Jan. 9. She has performed the role at the Teatro San Carlo and Houston Grand Opera. Palmertree has performed the role at the San Francisco Opera and Palm Beach Opera.

They will join a cast that includes Hyona Kim, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Adam Smith, Matthew Polenzani, Andrzej Filończyk, and Quinn Kelsey. Sonya Yoncheva will also sing the title role on March 10, 14, 18, 21, and 27.
