Casa Duse to Showcase ‘There’s Something About Verdi’

By David Salazar

Casa Duse will mark the 212th birthday of Giuseppe Verdi with a special event on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025.

The event, titled “There’s Something About Verdi,” will feature a screening of the acclaimed “lost” opera documentary film “In the Mouth of the Wolf,” presented by filmmaker and opera historian August Ventura.

Guests are invited to arrive at 6 p.m., with the program beginning promptly at 7. There will also be a light buffet. Admission is free, though seating is limited and advance RSVP is required.

Casa Duse once served as the New York home of Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge, with legends such as Marilyn Horne, Luciano Pavarotti, and Zinka Milanov among its frequent guests. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view the remarkable art and memorabilia collection of Martin Waldron, actor, teacher, and custodian of the residence, which pays homage to Eleonora Duse and other giants of the 19th and 20th-century performing arts.
