Carriageworks & Sydney Chamber Opera to Present ‘The Oresteia’

Carriageworks and Sydney Chamber Opera are set to present “The Oresteia” this July.

The first opera by Liza Lim, which takes the stage from July 24-31, 2026, will receive the first staging since its 1990s premiere. The production is directed by Imara Savage and features an adapted libretto by Barrie Kosky. The cast stars Jane Sheldon, Jessica Aszodi, Jessica O’Donoghue, Mitchell Riley, Daniel Szesiong Todd, and Simon Lobelson.

Four of the five performances have a 7 p.m. start time; the showcase on the July 25 starts at 3 p.m. local time. The opera has a runtime of 60 minutes with no intermission. It features haze, flashing lights, and references to violence.
