Carnegie Hall Cancels Rest of 2020-21 Season

By Francisco Salazar

Carnegie Hall has announced the cancelation of the remainder of its 2020-21 season.

The theater announced that due to the COVID-19 crisis, it would be unable to open in the Spring. Carnegie Hall however noted that it hopes to reopen in October for its opening night concert.

This is the latest New York arts institution to cancel its entire 2020-21 season following the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera, and the New York Philharmonic.

Carnegie Hall closed its doors on March 12, 2020 due to the pandemic and if it opens in October, it will have been 18 months since concerts were performed in the building.

New York recently reopened indoor dining and is focusing on creating pop-up events throughout the city to bring back live music.
