The Teatro Massimo di Palermo has announced a summer season entitled “Sotto Una Nuova luce.”

The concerts will take place at the Teatro di Verdura and will be streamed via the company Massimo TV.  For this article, we will only focus on vocal performances.

Omer Meir Wellber opens the festival with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Desirée Rancatore, Chiara Amarù, René Barbera, and Gianluca Buratto.

Carmen Giannattasio, Marianna Pizzolato, René Barbera, and Gianluca Buratto perform Verdi’s Requiem with Omer Meir Wellber conducting.

Performance Date: July 26, 2020

Roberto Alagna and Alexandra Kurzak headline Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” in a concert version. The performance will also star Sofia Koberidze, Ernesto Petti, and Romina Boscolo. Carlo Goldstein conducts.

Performance Dates: August 9 & 11, 2020

The Massimo Kids Orchestra and Teatro Massimo Youth Chorus perform selections by Salvatore Nogara, Georges Bizet, Giuseppe Ricotta, Pietro Mascagni, Vangelis, Ramin Djawadi, Alberto Maniaci, Simone Piraino, and Ennio Morricone. Michele De Luca conducts.
