
Carmen Giannattasio Cancels Performances at Teatro Colon Due to Father’s Death
By Francisco SalazarCarmen Giannattasio has canceled her performances of “Aida” at the Teatro Colon due to a death in her family.
The soprano took to social media and said, “With a heart full of sorrow, I have to share the news of my father’s passing. Tonight, I will sing at the premiere of Aida at #TeatroColón, honoring my commitment and his wish, but I will leave immediately afterward to be with my family and attend the funeral. As a result, I will not be able to sing in the following performances. Thank you for your love and understanding during this difficult time.”
The soprano was set to perform on March 11, 14,18, and 21, 2025. The company later revealed that Jennifer Rowley would be taking over her performances.
“Aida” is set to be performed from March 9 to 22, 2025, and is also starring María Belén Rivarola, Mónica Ferracani, Daniela Barcellona, Mairín Rodríguez, María Luján Mirabelli, Martin Mühle, Marcelo Puente, and José Azocar.
