Carmela Remigio, Roberta Mantegna & Claudia Pavone Highlight Teatro Verdi Trieste’s 2019-20 Season
By Francisco SalazarThe Teatro Verdi Trieste has announced its 2019-20 season featuring a number of new productions.
The season opens with Puccini’s “Turandot” starring Mlada Khudoley, Marcelo Puente, Desirée Rancatore, and Andrea Comelli. Nikša Bareza conducts the production by legendary soprano Katia Ricciarelli.
Performance Dates: Nov. 29-Dec. 8, 2019
Fabrizio Maria Carminati conducts Katia Ricciarelli’s production of Verdi’s “Aida.” The opera will star Anna Litvinova, Gianluca Terranova, Anastasia Boldyreva, and Andrea Borghini.
Performance Dates: Dec. 1-6, 2019
Carmela Remigio sings the title role in Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia” alongside Stefan Pop, Dongho Kim, and Laura Verrecchia. The opera will be conducted by Roberto Gianola and directed by Andrea Bernard.
Performance Dates: Jan. 17-25, 2020
Taras Shtonda, Yuliya Lytvynova, Eduard Siebrinskji, Eduard Martyniuk, and Olga Us star in Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov.” The opera is set to be directed by Yurji Tcaika.
Performance Dates: Feb. 7-13, 2020
Roberta Mantegna, Alessandro Scotto di Luzio, Federica Vitali, and Leon Kim star in Puccini’s “La Bohème” with Christopher Franklin conducting Carlo Antonio De Lucia’s production.

Amadi Lagha, Claudia Pavone, and Devid Cecconi in Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” with Fabrizio Maria Carminati conducting and Victor García Sierra directing.
Performance Dates: April 10-19, 2020
Giovanni Meoni stars in the title role of Verdi’s “Macbeth” with Gabrielle Mouhlen, Riccardo Rados, and Dario Russo. Fabrizio Maria Carminati conducts the production by Henning Brockhaus.
Performance Dates: May 15-23, 2020
Nicola Piovani presents her world premiere opera “Amorosa Presenza” with Chiara Muti directing.
Performance Dates: June 26-July 7, 2020
Concerts
Angela Nisi, Monica Bacelli, Stefano Secco, and Mirco Palazzi perform in Rossini’s Stabat Mater.
