Carlos Simon has joined 8VA’s roster.

In a statement, the PR company said, “8VA is (at least 3 octaves) over the moon to announce the newest addition to the fam – GRAMMY-nominated composer, Keenedy Center composer-in-residence, Boston Symphony Composer Chair, and busiest man in showbiz, Carlos Simon!”

This season, Simon will have premiere performances with the National Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra for the Last Night of the Proms (in his BBC Proms commissioning debut), Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, and Carnegie Hall, for the National Youth Orchestra.

The season will also feature the premiere of his “Gospel Mass” with Gustavo Dudamel and the L.A. Philharmonic, a work reimagining the traditional mass with gospel soloists and choir, and visual creations from Melina Matsoukas.

Simon is also set to bring an opera to the Metropolitan Opera entitled “The Highlands” in a later season.
