Carlo Tenan Named Artistic Director of Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra

Carlo Tenan has been named the Artistic Director of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra. His tenure kicks off on Oct. 1, 2023 and runs through July 31, 2026.

He will also take on the role of Principal Conductor from Sept. 1, 2024, through August 31, 2026.

“We will explore new musical horizons, push the boundaries of our creativity, and continue to touch hearts with our performances,” Tenan said of his appointment in an official press release. “Together, we will make the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra shine even more brightly on the global stage. I want to thank in particular our loyal audience for their unwavering support. It is their presence, their applause, and their shared love for music that fuel our passion. Together, we will embark on this exciting journey of music, and I promise you that the best is yet to come.”

Tenan has conducted such ensembles as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the orchestras of Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Orchestra Verdi di Milano, the Theatre Orchestras of Mannheim, Maribor, Ljubljana, Innsbruck, Oldenburg, and Teatro La Fenice.
