Cardiff Singer of the World Announces Five Finalists

The BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2021 has announced the five finalists for the four main prizes.

The finalists are mezzo-soprano Natalia Kutateladze from Georgia, baritone Gihoon Kim from the Republic of Korea, soprano Christina Gansch from Austria, mezzo-soprano Claire Barnett-Jones from England, and Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha as the fifth ‘wildcard’ finalist.

All five singers will compete on June 19 in a concert which will be broadcast live on BBC Four and BBC Radio 3 at 7:30pm.

The singers will perform for jury members Aidan Lang, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, John Gilhooly, Neal Davies, and Roberta Alexander for the top prize. There will also be an audience award, the coveted Joan Sutherland Audience Prize.

The main prize winner will be presented with the Cardiff Trophy and £20,000 while the audience prize winner will be presented with £2,500 and a crystal trophy.
