Capella Amsterdam Cancels ‘Le Vin Herbé’ Performance

By Francisco Salazar

Capella Amsterdam has canceled its March 20 performance of Frank Martin’s “Le Vin Herbé”

The company noted, “To our great regret – and disappointment – we unfortunately had to cancel the show ‘Le vin herbé’ tonight at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam. Both chief conductor Daniel Reuss and tenor Thomas Walker playing Tristan’s role have tested positive for coronavirus.”

The news comes after soprano Carolyn Sampson took to social media looking for a replacement. She said, “URGENT!!! Our poor Tristan has covid. Does any TENOR that follows me here happen to be able to jump in for FRANK MARTIN’s Le Vin Herbé TONIGHT in Amsterdam???”

The tweet was shared 94 times and also received numerous comments of support.

The next performance of “Le Vin Herbé” will be on March 22. The work will be performed through March 27.
