
Cape Town Opera Receives Multiple Cape Town Theatre Awards
By Afton MarkayCape Town Opera took home multiple awards at the 61st Cape Town Theatre Awards.
The Company’s production of “Bluebeard’s Castle” directed by Victoria Stevens stood out in the opera category. William Berger’s performance as Bluebeard won Best Performance in an Opera – male and Siphamandla Moyake as Judith won the same award in the female category. Productions from the 2025 season that were also nominated include “The Barber of Seville,” “Aida,” and “Die Fledermaus.”
Cape Town Opera’s collaboration with Pieter Toerien, GWB Entertainment, and LW Entertainment on “CATS” took home several awards for Best Ensemble, Best Actress in a Musical, and Best Costume Design.
The awards were presented onn July 5 at the Baxter Theatre.
