Cape Town Opera Earns 13 Naledi Award Nominations

Cape Town Opera (CTO) has secured 13 nominations at the Naledi Awards for the acclaimed production of “My Fair Lady,” presented at Artscape between December 2024 and January 2025 by Pieter Toerien Productions in association with Cape Town Opera.

CTO House Soloist Brittany Smith earned a Best Lead Performance – Female nomination for her portrayal of Eliza Doolittle, while Craig Urbani earned the Best Lead Performance.

Other nominations include Best Production of a Musical (Pieter Toerien and Cape Town Opera), Best Director (Steven Stead), Best Musical Director (Kevin Kraak), Best Supporting Performance – Female (Adrienne Pierce), Best Ensemble, Best Breakthrough Performance (Leah Mari), Best Choreography (Duane Alexander, co-founder of LAMTA), Best Set & AV Design (Greg King), Best Costume Design (Maritha Visagie and Neil Stuart Harris), and Best Sound Design (Mark Malherbe).

In a separate recognition, Cape Town Opera’s production of “The Magic Flute,” directed by Elizma Badenhorst, received a Fiësta nomination for Best Achievement in Children’s and Youth Theatre.
