Cape Town Opera Announces Library Programming

Cape Town Opera has released information about its upcoming library programming.

“Opera Blocks,” is a series of short performances for children up to five-years-old. The concert, “Forest Friends” is an immersive 40-minute performance that invites children to wander and engage with props and set pieces. This new production is directed by Elizma Badenhorst.

Cape Town Opera singers such as Danielle Speckman, Ntombizodwa Nkiso, Ernestine Stuurman, Sasha Damons, and Judith Neilson Young Artists Sisikelelwe Mngenela and Khayakazi Mdalala are among the cast. The program features “Evening Prayer” from “Hansel und Gretel”and familiar tunes from “The Nutcracker” such as the “Waltz of the Flowers” and the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.”

The free concerts will take place throughout July, and are presented in partnership with the Judith Neilson Foundation and the  City of Cape Town.
