Candice Hoyes to Present ‘Belle Canto’

By David Salazar

Soprano Candice Hoyes will present “Belle Canto,” a recital at The Morgan Library & Museum on Jan. 22, 2025.

The showcase, which is inspired by the exhibition “Belle da Costa Greene: A Librarian’s Legacy,” marries opera and jazz compositions while offering a glimpse into the life of Costa Greene, The Morgan Library’s first director.

Hoyes will be joined by pianist Kevin J. Miller in the performance.

The soprano, who is also a composer, archivist, and curator has performed at 2020 NYC JazzFest, Detroit Symphony, and the Blue Note, and has opened for such artists as Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, among others. As a composer, she made her Lincoln Center debut with the world premiere of Sadah Espii Proctor’s “adrift” in 2024.
