Canadian Opera Company to Present ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’

The Canadian Opera Company is set to present Leoš Janáček’s “The Cunning Little Vixen” for the first time in 25 years.

The production will be presented between Jan. 26 and Feb. 16, 2024, at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. The production by Jamie Manton featuring choreography from Jenny Ogilvie will be led by COC Music Director Johannes Debus.

Canadian soprano Jane Archibald stars in the lead role alongside mezzo-soprano Ema Nikolovska and bass-baritone Christopher Purves. The cast will also include mezzo-soprano Megan Latham, bass-baritone Giles Tomkins, tenor Adam Luther, mezzo-soprano Carolyn Sproule, soprano Charlotte Siegel, tenor Wesley Harrison, bass-baritone Alex Halliday, and soprano Ariane Cossette.

There will also be a “Relaxed Performance” on Feb. 13, 2024, which will star Ensemble Studio soprano Karoline Podolak, mezzo-soprano Carolyn Sproule, bass-baritone Joel Allison, mezzo-soprano Queen Hezumuryango, baritone Korin Thomas-Smith, and mezzo-soprano Alex Hetherington. Conductor Derek Bate will lead the COC Orchestra.
