
Canadian Opera Company & Tapestry Opera Earn Major Nominations at 2026 Dora Mavor Moore Awards

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts has announced nominations for the 46th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
Canadian Opera Company’s productions of “Orfeo ed Euridice” and “Rigoletto,” each received nods in Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performance by an Individual, Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble, and Outstanding Achievement in Design.
Tapestry Opera’s “LOL: Laughing Out Lonely” earned nominations in Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performance by an Individual, Outstanding New Opera, Outstanding Creative Direction, and Outstanding Achievement in Design.
“Bluebeard’s Castle / Erwartung,” also from the Canadian Opera Company, received nominations in Outstanding Production, Outstanding Creative Direction, and Outstanding Achievement in Design.
In Outstanding Performance by an Individual, nominees include countertenor Iestyn Davies and soprano Anna-Sophie Neher in “Orfeo ed Euridice;” baritone Quinn Kelsey and soprano Sarah Dufresne in “Rigoletto;” tenor Russell Thomas and mezzo-soprano Victoria Karkacheva in “Werther;” Morten Grove Frandsen in “LOL: Laughing Out Lonely;” and Midori Marsh in “Sanctuary Song.”
The Canadian Opera Company Chorus received three separate ensemble nominations for “Orfeo ed Euridice,” “Rigoletto,” and “The Barber of Seville.”
The Outstanding New Opera category features three contenders: “Come Closer” by Ryan Trew and Rachel Krehm (Opera 5); “Tapestry Briefs: Under Where” (Tapestry Opera); and “Canuck Cantatas,” with music by Danika Lorèn, Sarah Slean, and Spencer Kryzanowski and librettos by Royce Vavrek, Vern Thiessen, and Emma Pennell (Against the Grain Theatre).
The Dora Awards ceremony takes place on Monday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Meridian Hall.
