Canadian Opera Company Launches Digital Content Hub
By Francisco SalazarThe Canadian Opera Company has announced the launch of its Digital Content Hub.
The new online portal will host all of the COC’s upcoming webinars, online tutorials, and interactive programs for adults and young people, as well as registration details.
The platform will also house the company’s entire #OperaAtHome series, which includes performance clips, published daily. The series has already concluded.
In a press release Alexander Neef said, “When our theatres first closed due to the virus, we realized there was suddenly a significant artistic void that people were grappling with. So many of us are used to connecting through music, whether that’s seeing an opera, attending a concert, or playing instruments ourselves, together with friends. We created #OperaAtHome to bring some joy to daily life and also as a reminder that, despite our physical distance, music unites us.”
He continued, “The COC’s Digital Content Hub is a natural next step in staying connected to our audiences. As we adjust to new routines and look forward to better times ahead and an eventual return to the stage, we wanted to dive into the educational side of digital programming. We have seen many people embrace this moment in time as an opportunity for learning; we see this platform as offering new ways for arts-lovers of all ages and backgrounds to familiarize and deepen their understanding and enjoyment of opera.”
The Canadian Opera is the latest company to create a digital portal following the LA Opera, Dallas Opera, and Long Beach Opera.
