Camilla Nylund To Sing in ‘Lohengrin’ At Bayreuth Festival; Cancels Peralada Recital

By David Salazar

Camilla Nylund has canceled her recital at the Festival de Peralada so that she can take on the role of Elsa in “Lohengrin” in Bayreuth.

Per Scherzo, the recital, which was originally scheduled for August 3, 2019 was canceled as Nylund could not resist an opportunity to jump into a production of the Wagner opera when the famed festival came calling. Krassimira Stoyanova was originally set to perform the role of the heroine, but she canceled due to illness.

Nylund was already scheduled to appear as Eva in “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” this summer.

Per the report, the recital, which was to include pianist Helmuth Deutsch, will now be postponed until 2020.

Nylund is also set to take on “Ariadne auf Naxos” at the State Opera Hamburg, followed by “Die Frau Ohne Schatten” in Vienna. She will also appear at the Metropolitan Opera in “Der Rosenkavalier.” Other upcoming operas for the soprano include “Salome,” “Der Freischütz,” “Der Fliegende Holländer,” and “Intolleranza 1960,” among others.
