Camilla Nylund, Thomas Hampson & Hanna-Elisabeth Müller Lead Dresden Philharmonic’s 2021-22 Season

The Dresden Philharmonic in Germany has announced its 2021-22 season.
For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on vocal performances.
Prof. Gunter Berger conducts the Philharmonischer Kinderchor.
Performance Date: Sept. 5, 2021
Noa Frenkel and Michael Nagy lead a program dedicated to Salvatore Sciarrino. The concert will also feature Martina Schucan, Florian Hölscher, and Emilio Pomàrico.
Performance Date: Sept. 15, 2021
Jonathan Stockhammer leads soloists Antigone Papoulkas, Robert Koller, Martin Jan Nijhof, Peter Schweiger, and Helmut Vogel in Schmidt’s Syphony No. 2 and Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s “Ich wandte mich und sah an alles Unrecht, das geschah unter der Sonne.”
Performance Dates: Oct. 3, 2021
Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis will be conducted by Marek Janowski with soloists Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, Elisabeth Kulman, Christian Elsner, and Franz-Josef Selig.
Performance Dates: Oct. 8 & 9, 2021
Norbert Schuster conducts Charpentier’s “Te Deum Laudamus” with soloists Heidi Maria Taubert, Nora Steuerwald, Beat Duddeck, Eric Stokloßa, Clemens Heidrich, and Felix Schwandtke. The program also includes music by Delalande, Lully, and du Mont.
Performance Date: Oct. 15, 2021
Mark Wigglesworth and Gerhild Romberger team up for Mahler’s “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen.” The program also includes music from Sibelius and Wagner.
Performance Date: Oct. 16, 2021
Thomas Hampson and Martin Haselbröck perform Bach, Dvorák, Wolf, and Crumb.
Performance Date: Oct. 17, 2021
Lully’s Musik aus “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme” and Charpentier’s “Te Deum” will be conducted by Norbert Schuster. Soloists include Heidi Maria Taubert, Nora Steuerwald, Beat Duddeck, Eric Stokloßa, Clemens Heidrich, and Felix Schwandtke.
Performance Date: Oct. 17, 2021
Andrew Manze conducts a program of music by Stephan, Elgar, and Vaughan Williams. A soprano and cellist to be announced.
Performance Dates: Dec. 4 & 5, 2021
Marek Janowski conducts operetta excerpts for New Year’s Eve with soloists Camilla Nylund and Maximilian Schmitt. The program includes music by Strauß, Lehár, and Suppé.
Performance Date: Dec. 30, 2021-Jan. 1, 2022
Bruno Borralhinho conducts Luciano Berio’s Folk Songs, Maurice Ravel’s Introduction et Allegro, and Isaac Albéniz’s Poèmes d’amour. Soloists to be announced.

Vasily Petrenko conducts Gustav Mahler’s “Das Lied von der Erde” with Ruxandra Donose and Burkhard Fritz as soloists.

Marie Jacquot conducts the Berliner Capella and Philharmonischer Chor Dresden in works by Ethel Smyth, Witold Lutosławski, and Lili Boulanger.

Hans-Christoph Rademann conducts Henriette Reinhold and Matthias Winckhler in a program of music by Bach, Schütz, and Händel.

Christoph Pohl performs music by Brahms, Henze and Eisler alongside Adela Bratu, Eva Dollfuß, Yukiko Inose, Hanno Felthaus, Florian Richter, Dorothea Plans Casal, and Matthias Wilde.
