The Wiener Staatsoper has announced a cast change for the Sept. 27, 2019 performance of “Salome.”

The company announced that Ausrine Stundyte has canceled the performance due to illness. As a result, Camilla Nylund will replace the soprano singing the title role.

Nylund is currently in Vienna for a revival of R. Strauss’ “Die Frau ohne Schatten” and will also return to the Wiener Staatsoper in the spring for “Der Rosenkavalier.” The soprano is set to make her Metropolitan Opera debut this season and will also sing at the Berlin State Opera and Hamburg State Opera.

Nylund joins a cast that includes Linda Watson, Alan Held, Jörg Schneider, and Lukhanyo Moyake. Dennis Russell Davies conducts Boleslaw Barlog‘s production.

Ausrine Stundyte returns to the production for performances on Oct. 1 and 4, 2019.
