The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced that soprano Anja Harteros will not be appearing at the Dec. 4, 2021 concert, due to illness.

As a result, soprano Camilla Nylund will take over the performance. The Finnish soprano will perform Wagner’s “Wesendonck-Lieder” and “Liebestod” from “Tristan und Isolde.” The orchestra will also present Richard Strauss’ “Tod und Verklärung” op. 24 with Juraj Valčuha conducting.

Harteros is scheduled to return to the stage in the title role in Puccini’s “Tosca” alongside Fabio Sartori and Ambrogio Maestri at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in January and February 2022. The soprano is also scheduled to role debut the role of Kundry in Wagner’s “Parsifal” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in March and April 2022, alongside Thomas Blondelle and Stephen Milling. Harteros will also sing the role at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
