Camilla Nylund, Olga Jelínková, Xavier Moreno, Maximilian Schmitt, Cristiana Oliveira & Kiandra Howarth Lead Staatstheater Hannover’s 2025-26 Season

The Staatstheater Hannover has announced its 2025-26 season.

Premieres 

Wagner’s “Lohengrin” will star Shavleg Armasi, Maximilian Schmitt, Viktorija Kaminskaite, Grga Peroš, Ewa Vesin, and Peter Schöne. Stephan Zilias  and Mario Hartmuth conduct the new production by Richard Brunel.

Performance Dates: Sept. 14-Nov. 30 2025


Bastian Kraft directs a new production of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” Matteo Guerzé, Daniel Eggert, Olga Jelínková, Valda Wilson, SeungJick Kim, Cassandra Doyle, Beatriz Miranda, Serhii Moskalchuk, Max Dollinger, Yannick Spanier, and Ketevan Chuntishv star. Mario Hartmuth  and Masaru Kumakura conduct.

Performance Dates: Oct. 11, 2025-Jan. 10, 2026


Trine Møller  and  Liene Kinca star in the title role of Puccini’s “Turandot” in a cast that also includes Shavleg Armasi, Xavier Moreno, and Kiandra Howarth. Masaru Kumakura  and Mario Hartmuth conduct the new production by Jakob Peters-Messer.

Performance Dates: Feb. 7-May 21, 2026


Pascal Dusapin’s “Penthesilea” will star Katrin Wundsam, Peter Schöne, Olga Jelínková, Anthea Barac, Yannick Spanier, and Juhyeon Kim. Stephan Zilias conducts the production by Lorenzo Fioroni.

Performance Dates: March 14-April 24, 2026


Monika Walerowicz, Jonathan Winell, and Ketevan Chuntishvili star in “Homo Oeconomicus” by Andrea Tarrodi. Helena Röhr directs the production.

Performance Date: April 11, 2026


Korngold’s “Die Tote Stadt” will star Mirko Roschkowski, Kiandra Howarth, and Peter Schöne. Mario Hartmuth conducts the new production by Ilaria Lanzino.

Performance Dates: May 9-June 27, 2026


Grga Peroš, Valda Wilson, Monika Walerowicz, Joseph Dahdah, and Shavleg Armasi lead Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” in a new production by Wolfgang Nägele. Masaru Kumakura conducts. 

Performance Dates: June 13-28, 2026


Revivals 

Xavier Moreno sings the title role of Verdi’s “Otello” alongside a cast that also includes Alexey Zelenkov, Jonathan Winell, and Cristiana Oliveira. Masaru Kumakura conducts the new production by Immo Karaman.

Performance Dates: Sept. 20-Oct. 19, 2025


Mario Hartmuth and Stephan Zilias conduct Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” with Kiandra Howarth , Valda Wilson, Daniel Eggert, Beatriz Miranda, Peter Schöne, and Olga Jelínková.

Performance Dates: Nov. 9, 2025- Jan. 4, 2026


Mario Hartmuth  and Masaru Kumakura conduct Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” with a cast that includes Frank Schneiders, Peter Schöne, Cassandra Doyle, Beatriz Miranda, Ketevan Chuntishvilli, Olga Jelínková, Anthea Barac, and Monika Walerowicz.

Performance Dates: Dec. 3-25, 2025

SeungJick Kim, Matteo Guerzé, Frank Schneiders, Beatriz Miranda, Serhii Miskalchuk, and Yannick Spanier star in Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.” Stephan Zilias and Piotr Jaworski conduct.

Performance Dates: May 17-June 26, 2026

Camilla Nylund, alongside Maximilian Schmitt and members of the opera ensemble, the Lower Saxony State Orchestra Hannover under the direction of Stephan Zilias, Mario Hartmuth, Masaru Kumakura, and Piotr Jaworski will perform.
