Camilla Nylund, Michele Angelini, Simon O’Neill Headline OperaVision’s July Streams

The month opens with a 2015 New Zealand Opera production of Puccini’s “Tosca” starring Simon O’Neill in his first major role in his home, Orla Boylan as Tosca, and Phillip Rhodes as Scarpia.

The second stream will be the 2020 Nederlandse Reisopera production of “Orfeo” directed by Monique Wagemakers. A mobile installation, designed by artist Lonneke Gordijn, forms a living organism and accompanies a homogenous group of ten singers and ten dancers permanently on stage.

Bellini’s “I Puritani” follows in a production by Jossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito from Oper Stuttgart in 2018. The cast includes Ana Durlovski and René Barbera.

Chaya Czernowin’s “Infinite Now” will be streamed from a 2018 Opera Ballet Vlaanderen production.

Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia” can be seen from Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza. The 2016 staging features a production by José Luis Castro with Giuseppe Finzi conducting. The production stars Elliot Madore, Marina Comparato, and Michele Angelini.

OperaVision will also offer the Wagnerian family drama “Wahnfried” by Avner Dorman which premiered in Karlsruhe in 2017.

The month ends with Wagner’s “Der fliegende Holländer” from a 2017 recording at the Finnish National Opera. The production by Kasper Holten features Camilla Nylund and Johan Reuter.
